Rena Sonnier

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Rena Angelle Sonnier, 94, who passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. Rev. Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Church will officiate the services. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Ms. Rena was known to her family and friends as a kind lady with a touch of grace, personality and independence. She was always willing to sit and listen and then give advice if needed. Rena enjoyed playing cards, bingo, visiting with her family, friends, and there was always a hot cup of coffee awaiting as you entered her home. She was a member of the St. Bernard Altar Society, St. Bernard Rosary Group, Home Demonstration Club, Narfe, and AARP. Ms. Rena worked at the County Agents Office as a Program Clerk for 34 years. She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know and love her. Survivors include her sister, Lorraine A. "LoLo" Mills of Breaux Bridge; 4 nieces, Carol Champagne Guidry and her husband, Roy of Breaux Bridge, Margaret Champagne Barron and her husband, Ed of Baton Rouge, Christine Mills of Breaux Bridge and Joy Coleman Citron of Carencro; 2 nephews, Sonny Champagne of Breaux Bridge and Rickey Coleman and his wife, Rhonda of Texas; and several grand nieces and grand nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Sonnier; her parents, Numa and Eve Blanchard Angelle; and her sisters, Ada A. Champagne and Helen A. Coleman. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. by Deacon Butch Hebert on Monday. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
