Renabeth O'Quin

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Renabeth Hanks OQuin, 86, who passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Rev. John Clark will conduct the funeral service. A committal service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 5th at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport. Renabeth Hanks was born on November 22, 1925 at Edmunds, Idaho. Her father was Sidney Alva Hanks and her mother was Marva Rydalch Hanks. They lived in Parker, Idaho along with her younger brother Max Sidney Hanks. Renabeth graduated from St. Anthony High School in St. Anthony, Idaho in May of 1943. She then moved to Pocatello, Idaho and went to work for the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company. It was while living in Pocatello, Idaho that she met Thomas Jarreau O'Quin, whom she was to marry on July 10, 1944. Renabeth and Tom lived in various places in Louisiana and Texas, primarily Shreveport, La, Lafayette, La. and Metairie, La. They were married for 59 years before Tom's death in 2003. Renabeth spent the final years of her life living in Breaux Bridge, La. Renabeth died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Survivors include her son, John Thomas OQuin, II and his wife, Elizabeth, of Austin, TX; two daughters, Mickey OQuin Mast and her husband, Steven, and Jolene OQuin, all of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Max Sidney Hanks and his wife, Lois, and their family of Idaho; her brother-in-law, John Claude OQuin, III and his wife, Karen, and their family; five grandchildren, Jennie M. Mast, Michael S. Mast, Sarah Denise OQuin, Rachel M. OQuin, and Christopher J. OQuin; and three great grandchildren, Bryson J. Mast, Lillian S. Mast, and Geoffrey Mast-Belko. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jarreau OQuin; her parents, Sidney Alva and Marva Rydalch Hanks; her stepmother, Violet Hanks; her sister, Deborah E. Davis; and her brother, Dell Ava Hanks. Visiting hours will be observed at the funeral home from time 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012. Her family requests that memorials be made in her memory to Paramount Hospice, 101 LaRue France, Ste. 301, Lafayette, LA 70508.
