To those that were fortunate enough to call Rene a friend and/or relative, we will remember the ways she has touched our lives. Rene was known as a generous person. She was always a giver and a positive presence when you needed a lift. If you needed a pick-me-up Rene had the ability to have you smiling and laughing and wondering why you were upset in the first place. Rene worked in the physical therapy field for many years. She made a big impact on the people she encountered. Her favorite part about working in the field was the opportunity to meet new people, many of whom became a big part of her life. Despite Renes recent health struggles, she would always bounce back and be an encouragement to others. She had a heart for the elderly and a hand for the needy. She was a lover of family and a listener to the grieving and a friend to the friendless. To know Rene was to love Rene. Rene is survived by her husband, Steve Laviolette; son, Rusty Laviolette and his fiance, Mandy Melancon; grandson, Peyton Laviolette; mother, Anita Randazzo Dautreuil; sisters, Carmen Lisa Prados and Dionne Dautreuil; and several nieces and nephews. Rene was preceded in death by her father, Gaston Dautreuil Jr.; and her brother, Gaston 'Guy' Dautreuil III. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
