Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, September 19, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Rene "Man" Ledet, 77, who passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at his residence. Fr. Charles Moffatt will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Christina Watts and Dessie Ledet. Gift bearers will be Crystal Ledet, Heidi Daniels, and Kimberly Ledet. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. Rene was employed with the Surgery Center in Lafayette as a landscaping technician. In his free time he enjoyed riding and shoeing horses, playing cards with family and friends, going to the casino with his wife, Doris, sitting outside under the tree, and he most especially loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rene will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Doris Williams Ledet of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Michael Joseph Ledet of Breaux Bridge, Robert Joseph Ledet, Sr. (Mary) of FL; Dessie Ledet, daughter-in-law of Opelousas; and Donald Joseph Ledet, Sr. (Christine Ledet), of Breaux Bridge; his brothers, Herman Ledet ( Mary Lee) of Henderson, Gilbert Ledet of Breaux Bridge, Roland Ledet (Priscilla) of Lafayette, Junius Ledet of Carencro, Malcolm Ledet of Breaux Bridge, Horsase Ledet of Breaux Bridge, and Darrell Ledet of Lafayette; his sisters, Marie Francis of Breaux Bridge, Indian Ledet of Breaux Bridge, Sylvia Francis of Lafayette, Rose Marie Ledet of Breaux Bridge, and Ramona Ledet (Matthew) of Lafayette; 8 grandchildren, Ranada Hypolite, Donald Ledet, Jr., Crystal Ledet, Elijah Batiste, Heidi Ledet Daniels, Robert Ledet, Kimberly Ledet, and James Jones; and 8 great grandchildren, Dakotha Daniels, Christian Williams, Deion Hypolite, Rmanee Zenon-Ledet, Jessie Daniels, Jr., Kayne Daniels, Amari Davis, and Alaisa Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Ledet Sr. and Martha Alexander Ledet; his step mother, Elizabeth Ledet; his sister, Mary Alice Ledet; three brothers, Floyd Ledet, Percy Ledet, Jr., and Joseph Ledet; and his grandparents, Alfred Ledet, Marie Castille, and Cecile. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Jessie Daniels, Gilbert Ledet, Brandon Watts, Paul Williams, Robert Ledet, Jr., Glenn Maze, and Jimmie Francis.
