Richard Buddy Elmer

New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Richard Buddy Elmer, 72, who died on Monday, September 28, 2009 in New Orleans. Interment will follow at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. Born on December 23, 1936 in New Orleans, Mr. Elmer was a resident of Youngsville, and worked for Specialty Rental Tools and Supply. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his son, Rodney Elmer and wife Melissa of Laurel, MS; step daughters, Scarlet Abatie of Westwego, Gwen Schoudst of Slidell; grandchildren, Derek Elmer, Derk Sumrall, and Dalton Goddard all of Laurel, MS, Brandy Taylli of Westwego; and his pet Chihuahua, "Chloe". He was preceded in death a son, Leonard Ray Elmer; parents, Leonard Elmer and Irma Elmer; sisters, Ruby Boutte, and Mary Elmer. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
