New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, January 11, 2019 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Richard Joseph Southern, 38, who passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, in Abbeville. Interment will be at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. A resident of New Iberia since 2005, Richard was born on February 6, 1980 in Lake Charles. He worked in the oilfield and enjoyed music and being outdoors. Survivors include his mother, June Lancon of New Iberia; grandmother, Rose Lancon of New Iberia; son, Silas Southern of New Iberia; daughters, Victoria Hebert of New Iberia, Nevaeh Southern of Breaux Bridge, and Lillian Southern; and a brother, Regis Southern of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Earl Southern; grandfathers, Howard Lancon and Rudy Southern; and a grandmother, Dorothy Richard.
