Rickford "Rick" Hollister Waldrip was born on October 31, 1960, in Maiquetia, Venezuela. He died July 16, 2017 in Breaux Bridge, LA at the age of 56.
His father, Gene, was in the oil business when he was born. The family returned to The United States when Rick was 1-year old. They lived briefly in Texas. They moved to Louisiana in 1962. He graduated from the University of Louisiana in 1984.
Rick came to work at the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette, LA, in 1992 where he worked for ten years before going to work for the Strand Theatre in Orange, Texas. He worked at the Strand Theatre for seven years then returned in 2009 to work at the Heymann Performing Arts Center until 2014. He worked at the Heymann Center until he was forced to retire due to his health.
While working at the Heymann Center, Rick had many friends who knew him to be a brother, a nice guy, a good all-around awesome person, who was diplomatic, but yet humbling. His work as a Stage Manager kept him busy, but when able to take time out for himself, his favorite pastime was playing golf. Rick Waldrip will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Margarette Hollister Waldrip (1926 to 1992) and his father, Ralph "Gene" Eugene Waldrip (1927 to 2013); his grandparents Ralph and Nancy Waldrip; his aunts, Laura and husband, Alfred Nilges and Georgeanna and husband, Ernie Kepley; his uncle William (Billy) and wife, Patricia Waldrip.
He is survived by an uncle, Warren Dee "Wally" Waldrip and aunt, Haydee Gonzales Waldrip of Tucson, AZ; and many, many cousins.
