New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Ricky James Bonin, 54, who passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2009 in New Iberia. ; Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. ; Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. ; Born on August 23, 1955 in New Iberia, Ricky was a graduate of Catholic High, and worked for the City of New Iberia in the Parks and Recreation Department. He enjoyed softball and baseball, and was a softball umpire, a basketball referee, and a coach for Biddy Basketball in City Park. Most recently, Rickey was inducted into the LA USSSA Softball Hall of Fame. ; Survivors include his brothers, Hayward Bonin, Sr. and wife Margaret, Roy P. Bonin and wife Sally, Ronald Boo Bonin and wife Gloria all of New Iberia; companion, Aline Polk of New Iberia; step son, Jacob Lopez of Kansas; his best friend who was like a brother, Leroy Migues of New Iberia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Claude and Lillian Maynard Bonin; and a nephew, Dwight Bonin. ; Pallbearers will be Hayward Moose Bonin, Jr., John Bonin, Leroy Migues, Kevin Bonin, Jacob Lopez, and Randy Benoit. ; Honorary pallbearers include Susan Claire Bertrand, Latrelle Marie Benoit, Jeff Bonin, Guy Bonin, Karen Goodyear, and Pat Thibodeaux. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 12 Noon until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday.
