Ricky James Melancon

Cecilia - Ricky J. Melancon, 67, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, a St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Sunday, December 3, 2023,  from 8:30 AM until 11:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert at 11:00 AM. 

Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.

Ricky Melancon was born in Arnaudville on February 29, 1956, LEAP DAY. Although Ricky's birthday was celebrated on March 1st, everyone who knew Ricky knew that he was truly as UNIQUE and as SPECIAL as his actual day of birth. He was the pride and joy of his parents and loved by many. Ricky loved watching the "Dukes of Hazzard", riding his bike, and liked having money in his wallet. Ricky was a joyful person who never lost his childlike love of life.

He is survived by siblings, Francis Melancon and wife Paula, Darrell Melancon and wife Pamela, and Renella Boudreaux; sister-in-law, Jean Melancon; and his 13 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Ramsey Melancon; mother, Edith "Mitt" Leblanc Melancon; brothers, Thomas Melancon, Ellis Melancon Sr., Michael Melancon; and a nephew, Brent Melancon.

Pallbearers will be Noah Melancon, Harvey Johnson, Dana Patin, Devin Patin, Kevin Theriot and Kole Theriot.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ellis "EJ" Melancon, Jr., Jimmie Melancon, Robert Boudreaux, Johnathan Melancon, Dilan Patin, Trent Martin, Peyton Melancon, Lee Durio, Heath Angelle, Kim Durio, Chuck Landry, Danny Martin, Alex Nelson, and P.J. Johnson.
