Rita 'Granny' Degeyter

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Alexander Albert will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Degeyter was born on September 14, 1942 to John and Rose Gaspard Bourque. She was a loving mom, mother-in-law, granny, and friend to all. She enjoyed watching scary movies, drinking morning coffee, camping, gardening, watching hummingbirds and squirrels, fishing and spending time with her family and friends. Her special time was the holidays. She loved going to church, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Elvis Presley. Survivors include her daughters, Sarah Arceneaux and husband Russell of Youngsville, Melinda Girard and husband Michael of New Iberia, Debbie Dugas and husband Fabian "Fabo" of Broussard, Karen Degeyter of Broussard; brother, Charles Bourque and wife Carolyn of St. Martinville; sister, Jessie Landry of New Iberia; grandchildren, Lynn Arceneaux, April Arceneaux, Durke Girard, Ashley Girard, Jennifer Migues, Keith Bourque, Chad Bourque, Heaven Norwood; and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her brothers, Wilton Bourque, and Wilson Bourque; sister, Wilda Gonsoulin; and a grandchild, Ned J. Romero. Pallbearers will be Chad Bourque, Keith Bourque, Durke Girard, Wesley Migues, Norbert Gonsoulin, Paul Bourque, Jeremy Trahan, and Debbie Dugas.
