Rita Girouard LeBlanc

New Iberia - Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm, on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Rita Girouard LeBlanc, 88, who passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020, in New Iberia. Entombment will be at a later date. Deacon Durk Viator will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm Saturday. A native of Loreauville and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. LeBlanc was born on July 22, 1932 to the late Allief Pierre Girouard and Rita Gondron Girouard. She used to run a cane derrick and was a member of the Home Demonstration Club. An avid bowler, Mrs. LeBlanc loved cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen (Mike) Andrus of New Iberia; son, Wayne Paul (Dianne) LeBlanc of New Iberia; grandchildren, Erica Andrus, Jeremy (Maxwell Jones) LeBlanc, Lindsay (Jason) Chastant, and Misty LeBlanc; great grandchildren, Brantley Champagne, Amelia Chastant, and Lanie Gautreaux. In additionto her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Paul LeBlanc; sisters, Ruth Gachassin, Edith Randazzo, Gertrude Provost, Ethel Girouard, and Lucy Girouard; brothers, Jess Girouard and Lloyd Girouard. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Consolata Nursing Home for the extraordinary care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
