Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Rita Mae Celestine Lewis, 58, who passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Friday. Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read will be George Williams. Gift bearers will be Kaylon Lewis, Koby Thomas, and Kyra Thomas. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Ms. Rita enjoyed dancing, going to the casino, and socializing with family and friends. She cherished moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her companion, Ernest Johnson of Breaux Bridge; sons, Clifton Lewis, Jr. and wife Summer of Breaux Bridge, and Christopher Lewis and companion Laycie Alfred of Breaux Bridge; daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Pete and husband Vincent of Breaux Bridge; the father of her children, Clifton Lewis, Sr. of Breaux Bridge; brothers, Harold Celestine and wife Prenella, Melvin Celestine, and Henley Celestine, Jr., all of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Eva Demouchet and husband James of Breaux Bridge, Vergie Lewis and husband Herman of Cecilia, and Johnella Breaux and husband Michael, Sr. of Breaux Bridge; her aunt, Verna Martin of Houston, TX; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Hanley Celestine, Sr.; mother, Anna Mae Thibodeaux Celestine; her brothers, Leroy Celestine and Ronald Celestine; and her sister, Leona Celestine. Pallbearers will be Jacob Celestine, Raynr Jones, Shelton Jones, Michael Breaux Jr., Vincent Pete, and Troy Shelvin. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifton Lewis Jr., Christopher Lewis, Herman Lewis, James Demouchet, Harold Celestine, Michael Breaux Sr., Clifton Lewis Sr., Henley Celestine Jr., Melvin Celestine, and Ernest Johnson. Her family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for their care and support during Ms. Rita's illness.
