New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Rita LeBlanc Norris, 90, who passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Francois Sainte-Marie will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 2:30 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Catholic Daughters Court Blessed Mother Teresa, will be prayed at 6:30 pm Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Norris was born in Vermilion Parish on February 1, 1927 to the late Etienne Black LeBlanc and Louisa LeBlanc. She was a devout Catholic, having taught catechism for many years and was a Lector at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mrs. Norris worked at the Rosary House for over 35 years and many years ago she had owned the corner store on the corner of Hopkins Street and Sylvia Street. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Keith E. Norris of New Iberia, Dayne A. Norris and wife Sandra of New Iberia; daughter, Vicky Norris Fontenot and husband Kenneth P. Fontenot of New Iberia; brothers, Allen T. LeBlanc of New Iberia, and Lonnie LeBlanc of Erath; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald James Norris; brothers, Leewood LeBlanc, and Simon E. LeBlanc; grandchild, Angel; and a daughter-in-law, Diana Dugas Norris.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Norris, Beau Fontenot, Brian Norris, Donnie Broussard, Bryce Norris, Grant Norris, and Chad Norris.
Honorary pallbearers include Dominic Norris, Shawn Norris, Jason Dugas, Shane DeRouen, and Caleb DeRouen.
