Rita Frances Perrodin

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Rita Frances Perrodin, 69, who passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. 

A visitation will take place at the church Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 8:00 am until time of service. 

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Thursday. 

Father Abelardo Gaberiel, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass.  Readers will be Shemekia Augustine and Dora Robertson.  Gift bearers will be Anika Augustine and Kasen Youman. 

Interment will follow at Queen of Peace cemetery.

Rita was born on January 6, 1954, in Lafayette. Rita found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Whether it was a family gathering or a casual get-together with friends, Rita's kitchen was always filled with mouthwatering aromas and laughter.

Not only did Rita have a knack for cooking, but she also loved to pray for those in need while attending church. She enjoyed going to the casino, singing, and dancing. Her infectious enthusiasm would fill the room as she twirled on the dance floor or sang along to her favorite melodies. Rita's free spirit and love for life were evident in every step she took and every note she sang.

Beyond her culinary skills and talent for dancing and singing, Rita had a heart overflowing with compassion. She possessed an unwavering dedication to helping others and would go above and beyond to offer a helping hand to those in need. Nothing brought her more satisfaction than knowing she had made a positive difference in someone's life.

In her spare time, Rita enjoyed going on leisurely rides to the store and visiting family and friends, taking in the beauty of her surroundings along the way. She embraced life's simple pleasures wholeheartedly and found joy in even the smallest of moments. Rita also took immense pride in her home and loved to decorate her yard with vibrant flowers and plants that bloomed as brilliantly as her spirit.

She is survived by her son, Truman J. Perrodin; daughter, Andrea Perrodin; brothers, Albert (Janice) Perrodin, Phillip (Takeisha) Perrodin, Wilfred Perrodin, Nathaniel Blanchard, and Patrick LeBlanc; sisters, Lucy (Willard) Simien, Mary Perrodin, Juanita Anthony and Judy (Jackie) George; grandchildren, Torian Perrodin, Kevin Jefferson, Dezunoree' Benjamin, India Cole, Tyland Gregoire, Tyreke Harris, Ta'Niaya Harris, Taylen Perrodin, Tyjuandre Harris, Ayana Perrodin; and her godson, Alex Perrodin and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Melba Nadie Perrodin; Brother, Curtis Perrodin and her sister, Dorothy Perrodin.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Perrodin, Albert "Byrd" Perrodin, Jr., Devin Perrodin, Daylon Perrodin, Adam Augustine, and Lamont Wilson. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacoby George, Raphael Perrodin, Dylan Lewis, Alex Perrodin, Truman Perrodin and Albert Perrodin, Sr.
