Rives "Bozo" Verret, Jr.

Catahoula – A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 12, 2020 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula for Rives "Bozo" Verret, Jr., 85, who passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the Dion Hall from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 8:00 am until 10:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Thursday. Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula. Rives, known to many as "Bozo," was born December 17, 1934 in Catahoula. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. After many years, he retired from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Bozo enjoyed dancing, fishing and being outdoors. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Ollie Theriot Verret; son, Rilius "Tookie" Verret (Stephanie Potier); daughters, Brenda Verret, Melinda LaVergne, and Linda Faucheaux (Johnnie); sisters, Carolyn Busby and Beverly Lasseigne; grandchildren, Dillon Dupont, Shanna Dore, Skylar Verret Theriot, and Hunter Verret; and great grandchildren, Sophie Dore, Aubrey Dore, Evelyn Theriot, Cole Theriot, Declan Theriot, and Remi Verret. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rives Joseph and Armite Latiolais Verret; brothers, Woodrow and George Verret; and one sister, Jeannette Mire. Pallbearers will be Rilius "Tookie" Verret, Allen Mire Jr., Shane Verret, Bret Dore, Hunter Verret, and Johnnie Faucheaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Bergeron, Nolan Dore, Charles "KeKe" Bourque, Errol Verret, Vernon Verret, Ferril Verret, and Ricky Verret.
