Bobby was born on February 17, 1941, in St. Martinville. Upon graduating from high school, he began helping his father in the field as a sugarcane farmer. After he married at the young age of 21, he officially became an employee of Elmore Albert and Son. He later took over the farm under Robert P. Albert Farm and worked alongside one of his sons for many years. Bobby served on the Board of Directors for Levert St. John now known as LaSuCa for many years. He received three High Sugarcane Yield awards during his time of farming.
Bobby was a loving husband, father, “Papie”, brother and friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp in the Atchafalaya Basin. He always loved spending time with his family and telling jokes. He was an avid gardener and was always proud to share his crops with family and friends. During his younger years, he and Murlda spent time traveling and enjoyed taking a beach trip every summer with their grandchildren. In his retirement years, he enjoyed many mornings visiting with close friends over coffee. He loved sitting in his recliner and cheering on any football team, especially the Saints. Some of his proudest moments were walking his two granddaughters down the aisle, and attending numerous dance revues and sporting events. He always looked forward to holidays because he knew he would be surrounded by his whole family. He truly loved life and making people around him laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Murlda Berard Albert of St. Martinville; his daughter, Lisa Albert Thibodeaux; three sons, Leland Albert, Lonny Albert and Chad Albert; his brother, Ralph Albert (Marguerite); two sisters, Rowena Albert Babin (Donnie) and Regina Albert Champagne (Lloyd); Four grandchildren, Kylie Thibodeaux Morgan (Scott), Brianne Thibodeaux White (Jesse), Tayga Albert and Treylin Albert; as well as, four great grandchildren, Parker Dale Morgan, Ellery Frances Morgan, Jude Robert White and Julianne Rose White.
