Robert "Bob" Wattigny was born on March 10, 1955, in Fort Knox, Kentucky to the late Charles and Joyce Truax Wattigny. He attended Catholic High School and graduated from New Iberia Senior High.

Bob dedicated many years of his life to the oilfield, where he built a reputation as hardworking and dependable. His career evolved as he transitioned to become an electrical contractor, crafting his own path with determination and skill.

Bob had a passion for family, community, and the great outdoors. A devoted nature lover, Bob found solace and joy in the beauty of the world around him. He had a love for music that spanned all genres, and whether it was a quiet evening at home or a lively gathering with friends, he was always up for a party. With an infectious smile and a warm heart, he never met a stranger—his friendly demeanor drew people toward him, creating connections that would last a lifetime.

Bob's commitment to his family was unwavering. He wore the title of 'father' and 'grandfather' with immense pride, actively coaching his daughters in basketball and softball. He nurtured their passions, always there to support them and to celebrate their achievements. The laughter and joy of his grandchildren brought him unparalleled happiness, and he took great joy in watching them grow and pursue their individual talents.

Bob was also a pillar of the community. Over a decade of civic service reflected his deep-seated belief in giving back. He was instrumental in numerous projects, including the renovation of Devil's Pond in City Park, the relocation of the naval aircraft in front of the Veterans Memorial Building, the upkeep of the beautiful fountains in front of City Hall, and planting trees after hurricane Andrew. His contributions, like his spirit, will resonate for years to come, reminding us all of his generous heart and selfless nature.

Mr. Wattigny is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lucille Derouen Wattigny; children, David Wattigny, Julie Wattigny Boudreaux (Stephen), Allyson Wattigny Robin (Levi Louviere), and Amber Wattigny Arceneaux (Bryan); siblings, Charles “Skip” Wattigny, Jim Wattigny, Mary Wattigny, and Chris Wattigny (Sophia); and grandchildren, Kohlie Robin, Carter Boudreaux, Anna Boudreaux, Norah Robin, Fynn Louviere, and Elise Arceneaux.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Kathy Wattigny Beard, Mark Wattigny, and Joel Wattigny.

We will forever hold Bob’s memory close. May he rest in peace.
