Parks - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks for Robert John ""Bobby"" Champagne, 57, of Parks, who died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Fr. Bryce Sibley, pastor of St. Joseph Church, will conduct the service.
Bobby was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Marines. ?He was a supervisor with the Parks Water & Sewerage System and served as a Justice of the Peace for 28 years. ?He loved hunting and gambling and enjoyed cooking and socializing with family and friends. ?He was a member of the Jaycees, American Legion, Parks Volunteer Fire Department and the Louisiana Rural Water Association, and an honorary member of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Champagne of Parks; his brothers, Shirles J. Champagne, Sr. of Parks and Willis Champagne of Lafayette; his sisters, Rita Bonin of Parks, Jeanelle Theriot of Lafayette, and Nancy Latiolais of Parks; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanders and Lucy C. Champagne; and a brother, Carol Champagne.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and continue until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening.
Pallbearers will be Randy LeBlanc, Johnny Champagne, Lonnie Champagne, Rene Champagne, Jamie Latiolais, and Terry LeBlanc, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shirles Champagne, Sr., Willis Champagne, James C. Theriot, Randolph P. Latiolais, Roland LeBlanc, Gerald LeBlanc, Terry LeBlanc, Sr., and Paul Scrantz.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
