Robert Allen Cox was born on November 24, 1930 in Delhi, Texas to Edgar Henry Cox and Helen Bridwell Cox. Bob was a longtime resident of New Iberia, and an active participant of Arc Angel Acres, and prior to that he had moved from Pecos, Ft. Stockton, and Austin, Texas.
In the past, Bob was employed by Coca Cola, and The University of Texas, where he served as grounds keeper, and was easily recognized on campus and considered a friend by many students.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was an active member of Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. In spite of Bob's handicap, he accomplished many things in his lifetime. He was able to drive his own car and enjoyed extensive travels, mostly The New England Fall Foliage Tours and of course, Branson, Missouri.
Another of his favorite hobbies included bowling. He participated in a league until his late 80's. Another high on his Bucket List was eating out, the movies, and football games, but most of all he loved Major League Baseball. He would sit in his recliner and keep score of every hit, run, or foul made by each team.
Bob was a gentle soul; a wonderful Christian, a generous, loving, kind, human being who loved everyone and would never hurt another person on purpose.
New Iberia will greatly miss this remarkable individual. Bob was the older brother of Don Cox of Iberia Rental, who preceded him in death three years ago, and a sister, Carolyn Cox, who died in Pecos, Texas at the age of 12 with Lupus.
He leaves behind a sister-in-law, Sue Stewart Cox; a nephew, Kyle Cox and his two sons, Kannor Cox and Kougar Cox and nephew Christopher Neal Whatley; and one niece, Donna Sue Cox Whatley and her daughter, Kristin Landrum, and a great niece Kayla Beesaw.
