New Iberia - Funeral services will be held for Robert ""R.D."" Derise, 91, at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Pellerin Funeral Home with the Rev. Emmanuel Fernandez officiating. R.D. passed away Monday, October 15, 2007 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Broussard Cemetery. ? Born on February 21, 1916 in Louisa, R.D. is the son of Hypolite and Mary Ewing Derise. He retired from Morton Chemical as a chemical technician. He enjoyed making trawls and being involved in our youth baseball and boxing. But, what brought him greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild. R.D. is survived by his wife of 71 years, Irma LeBlanc Derise of New Iberia; his daughter, Nancy Richard of New Iberia; his son, Robert ""Bob"" Derise and wife Annette of New Iberia; brother, Frank Derise and wife Dolores of Lydia; sister, Louise Jacob and husband Merrill of Glenco; grandchildren, Gilman Richard, Jr. and wife Lisa of Naples, FL., Dean Richard of New Iberia, Katherine Friend and husband Brian of New Iberia, Shannon Facemire and husband Dwayne of Houston, TX, Holly Grubb and husband Charles of Lafayette, Robert Richard and wife Phyllis of New Iberia, Christopher Derise and wife Amy, Jonathan Derise, and Desire' Derise, all of New Iberia; great grandchildren, Ben Richard and wife Jessica, Grant Richard, Matthew and Marcus Richard, Casey and Taylor Friend, Nicholas and Katherine Facemire, Kaylee and Avery Grubb, Leon ""IV"" Roy, IV, Thomas, Emma and Cullin Derise; and great great granddaughter, Jordan Richard. In addition to his parents, R.D. was preceded in death by his son in law Gilman Richard, Sr.; his brothers, Jimmy, Henry, Roland, Roy and Lloyd Derise; his sisters, Olean Rivet and Alice Hogan. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2007 A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. Pallbearers will be Robert ""Bob"" Derise, Chris Derise, Jonathan Derise, Gilman Richard, Jr., Dean Richard and Robert Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Derise and Merrill Jacobs.
