New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia for Robert P. Halphen Sr., 89, who passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant, and Rev. Mario Romero will Con-Celebrate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 am until 10:30 am.
A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Halphen was born on January 13, 1929 in St. Martinville to the late Ishmael and Carmen Durand Halphen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served our country during the Korean War, and was a retired switchman from AT&T. Mr. Halphen played tennis most of his life, and loved participating in the Senior Olympics, especially in Badminton and Pickle Ball. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Olivier Halphen of New Iberia; daughter, Debra Halphen Hargrave and husband Mark of Youngsville; son, Robert P. Halphen, Jr. and wife Christine of New Iberia; granddaughter, Laura Hargrave Hogan and husband Michael of Youngsville; great grandchildren, Aria Hogan, Luke Hogan, and James Hogan due to arrive in November.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Newell and Myrtle Duhon; brothers, Patrick Halphen, Owen Halphen, Durand Halphen, and Ishmael Halphen, Jr.
