Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, on Wednesday, June 26 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Robert Randolph Laville, Sr., 83, who passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from ;6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm on Tuesday. Fr. Donald Pelous will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Mike Bagot, Jr. and Susie Hughes. Gift Bearers will be his five granddaughters. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Laville, a 1947 graduate of Plaquemine High School, graduated from Virginia Military Institute (V.M.I.) in 1951. He honorably served in the United States Air Force for 2 years and in the reserves, as a Lieutenant Colonel, for 20 years. Bob worked for Texaco as a District Sales Manager for 34 years prior to his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. A devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Mr. Laville was one of the founding members of the St. Bernard Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, which was established in 1984. Actively involved in his community, Bob served as a board member of St. Martin Hospital, volunteered his time with Special Olympics, was a member of the American Legion in Breaux Bridge, and served on the Board of Directors for the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Association, where he headed the Crawfish Races, reigned as the Crawfish King in 1991, and was inducted in the B.B.C.F.A. Hall of Fame in 1997. Known as having a kind and generous heart, Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, most especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois Theriot Laville of Breaux Bridge; his son, Dr. Robert Laville, Jr. of Lafayette; two daughters, Dr. Mary Laville and her husband, Dr. Matt Mitchell, of Lafayette, and Marie "LeeLee" Laville of Breaux Bridge; five grandchildren, Ashley Laville LeBlanc, Victoria Laville, Kathryn Mitchell, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Caroline Mitchell; two sisters, Ann Scharfenberg and her husband, Dr. John Scharfenberg and Betty Bagot, all of New Orleans; two sisters-in-law, Anne Mestayer Laville and Anne Golsan Laville, both of Baton Rouge; and his brother-in-law, Vance J. Theriot of Breaux Bridge. He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Parkerson Laville, Sr.; his mother, Germaine Wilbert Laville; his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Parker Laville; two sisters, Corporal Germaine Laville and Carolyn Joffrion; two brothers, Dr. Louis Parkerson Laville, Jr. and Dr. James Arthur Laville; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Joffrion and Mike Bagot, Sr. Pallbearers will be Mike Bagot, Jr., John Laville, Ray Joffrion, Jude Duhon, Hubert Hebert, and Burton Dupuis. Honorary pallbearers will be Vance Theriot, Barry Hughes, Don LeVasseur, Patrick Duhon, Major Christopher Duhon, Randolph Trappy, Carl R. Carstens, Dewey Coles, and Mike Marquez. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the employees of the Petroleum Club for their years of special attention given to him and his family. Special thanks to all the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of Louisiana Oncology Associates, Lafayette General Hospital, and Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care given to him during his time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, St. Bernard Church, St. Francis Church, or the Miles Perret Center.
