A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia for Robert A. Musso, age 85, who died on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. William Blanda will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Robert "Big Bob" Musso was born on October 20, 1929 in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He graduated from Thibodaux High School and served in the Korean War from 1951-1952 as part of the MP Brigade. He attended Loyola Pharmacy School of New Orleans where he graduated in 1959. Upon graduation he moved to New Iberia where he opened and operated L&M Pharmacy until his retirement in 1991. He remained active in the business until the time of his death. His hobbies that he regularly enjoyed and passed on to his children were duck hunting in the marshes of South Louisiana and fishing for sac-a-lait and speckled trout. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Serena Richard Musso; his sons, Michael and wife Denise, Matthew, Mark and wife Susan, Bobby and wife Michelle, and Frank; daughters Katherine and husband Richard Romero, and Scarlet and husband Rene' LeBlanc. He is survived by 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is survived by one sister, Renelee Musso Waguespack. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Toups Musso; his parents, Frank and Pauline H. Musso; brothers Joseph "Buck" Musso and Camille Musso; and one sister, Francis "Tut" Roundtree. Pallbearers will be Joshua P. Musso, Dustin M. Musso, Jordan G. Musso, Jake A. Musso, Garrick J. Musso, and Ryan P. Musso. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Romero, Rene' LeBlanc, David Defelice, and Kevin Kohnke. Big Bob was faithful in his commitment to his children obtaining a sound Catholic education. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic High School Endowment Fund at 1301 deLasalle Dr., New Iberia, LA 70560, or to the Sisters of Mount Carmel, P.O. Box 1160, Lacombe, LA 70445.
