Robert J. Romero

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, in New Iberia for Robert James "Bobby" Romero, 82, who died Saturday, December 1, 2007 in a New Iberia hospital. Entombment will be in Holy Family Mausoleum. Rev. David H. Romero, S.J. will be the Celebrant. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero was a graduate of St. Peter's College and S.L.I. He is a retired title abstractor and is a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Violeta Bravo Romero of New Iberia; sons, Luis B. Romero and wife Rachel of Coteau, Rev. David H. Romero, S.J. of Brazil, Robert J. Romero, Jr. and wife Elaine of Baton Rouge, Richard A. Romero and wife Katherine of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Maria Ecuyer and husband Edward "Ted" of Luling, LA; sister, Shirley Bienvenu and husband Joe of Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Barton Romero and wife Kelly Patout Romero, Rebecca Romero, Robert J. Romero, III, Hannah E. Romero, Jesse J. Romero, Chelsea L. Romero, Mollie K. Romero, Aimee L. Ecuyer, Richard P. Ecuyer; great grandchildren, Jack and Audrey Romero. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubald and Meda Bertrand Romero; brothers, Allen Romero and Earl Romero. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be at 6:00 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Luis B. Romero, Robert J. Romero, Jr., Richard A. Romero, Edward "Ted" Ecuyer, Robert J. Romero, III, and Barton Romero. Honorary pallbearers are Jesse J. Romero and Richard P. Ecuyer.
