St.Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 16, 2012, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Rodney Alphe Bienvenu, Sr., 71, who passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Harley and Raini. Gift bearers will be Colette Provost, Lynette Dugas, and Suzzette Judice.
Rodney was a former member of the St. Martinville Rotary Club and the Kiwanis. He loved to gamble and enjoyed going to the casinos, where he could play a great game of Blackjack, he also loved following the stock market trends. Rodney loved to travel and see different places in the United States and abroad. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Rodney 'Ron' Alphe Bienvenu, Jr. and his wife, Elvira, of Connecticut; three daughters, Vickie Melancon and her husband, Craig, of St. Martinville, Melissa Stall and her husband, Donald, of Ohio, and Cindy Harrison and her husband, Ryan, of Arnaudville; his twin brother, Wayne Bienvenu and his wife, Patsy, of St. Martinville; his brother in law, Perry Barras and his wife, Barbara, of St. Martinville; six grandchildren, Kate-lyn, Harley, Raini, Zack, Sultana, and Isabella; and three great grandchildren, Addyson, Ashtyn, and Jude.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Gersie Barras Bienvenu; a grandson, Tori Fredieu; and his parents, Joseph Alphe and Theresa Olivier Bienvenu.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Ellis Bienvenu, Elliot Bienvenu, Pat Theriot, Ronald Geoffroy, Neil Bienvenu, Coleman Bienvenu, Jr., and Rodney "Ron" Bienvenu, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Harrison, Craig Melancon, and Perry Barras.
