New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Rodney Paul Romero, 64, who died Monday, November 12, 2012 in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Steve LeBlanc will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 1:15 PM. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero was born on September 14, 1948 to Nichol and Gernice Stevens Romero. He worked at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church for 9 years. His hobbies included fishing, and watching football, especially the New Orleans Saints. He is survived by his wife, Kathy McGinn Romero of New Iberia; children, Joel Romero and wife Jill of Henry, Aron Romero and fianc, Tonya Hebert of New Iberia, Rachelle Romero Poirier and husband Donald Poirier, Jr. of St. Martinville, Rosiebelle Espino and boyfriend Dylan Duchamp of New Iberia, Steven Romero of Columbia, MS, Shannon Romero of New Iberia; brothers, Reynold Romero and wife Maria of Valrico, FL, Kirk Romero and wife Ida of New Iberia, Kevin Romero and wife Cindy of Columbia, MS; sisters, Pearlie Romero and husband Raymond of New Iberia, Joyce Bourque of Broussard, Melinda Taylor of New Iberia, Karen Trim and husband Leon of New Iberia, Debra Argus and husband David of Pollock, Wanda French and husband Michael of New Iberia; 17 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jacob Romero, Nelson Romero, Nichol 'Jay' Romero, Jr.; sisters, Nell Romero, Louella George, and Shirley Stevens. Pallbearers will be Joel Romero, Aron Romero, Brennan Trim, Kirk Romero, Johnny Segura, and Donald Poirier. Honorary pallbearers include Reynold Romero, Kevin Romero, Leon Trim, and Dylan Duchamp.
