Roger James Guidry

Breaux Bridge - Roger James Guidry, 72, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020. Due to the Governor’s Public Health Emergency Proclamation, limiting gatherings no more than 50 people, a private service will be held for immediate family only. Roger honorably served in the United States Army National Guard. He worked as a woodworker for 40 years at Lafayette Wood Works. Roger was devoted Catholic and parishioner at St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a member of the St. Bernard Usher Society, an original member of Perpetual Adoration and Holy Name Society. Roger was an avid runner and ran several Louisiana and many other state 5K, 10k and 26k marathons. He was a member of a running club in Lafayette called, "The Congregation." Roger also, enjoyed traveling to many places. Roger will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.. He is survived by his brothers, Fred Guidry and wife (Katherine) and Melvin Guidry (Cabrina); nephews, Gavin David Guidry (Aya) and Trace Guidry; niece, Rainey Guidry; great nephew, Chase Guidry; and great niece, Chloe Guidry. He was preceded in death by his parents, David P. and Emelianne Usie Guidry. Pallbearers will be Fred Guidry, Melvin Guidry, Trace Guidry, Mike Usie, Wayne Sonnier and Russell Huval. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin David Guidry, Tom Guidry, and Hunner Huval. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
