Ronald Bourque, Sr.

Jeanerette - Ronald Bourque, Sr., a well-respected police officer for the Jeanerette Police Department and currently with the Chitimacha Police Department, passed away on Thursday, May 25th, 2023, at the age of 71, after a lengthy illness. Ronald was born on September 11th, 1951, in Delcambre, Louisiana to Gladys LeBlanc DeBlanc and Lester Bourque.

Ronald will be remembered for his calming presence and gift of gab that he used while serving as a police officer for over two decades. He could ease a tense situation just by talking to people. His kind and gentle nature was well-known and appreciated by everyone who knew him.

Ronald served in the Army National Guard before pursuing his career as a police officer. Fishing and attending family gatherings were some of his favorite pastimes, which brought him great joy.

He is survived by his sisters Barbara DeBlanc and Susan DeBlanc Landry; half sister, Katherine Bourque-Menard (Stephen); half brother, Larry Bourque (Rachelle); several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Ronald Bourque Jr. and Kevin Bourque; his father, Lester Bourque; his mother, Gladys LeBlanc DeBlanc; stepfather, Richard Charles DeBlanc; sisters Deanna DeBlanc Metz and Patricia DeBlanc; brothers, Thomas DeBlanc, Richard DeBlanc Jr., and Scottie DeBlanc; half-brother, Michael Bourque.

Friends and family are invited to attend visitation services at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on June 1st from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and June 2nd from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial service will be held on June 2nd at 11:00 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home.

Ronald was a kind and compassionate man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
