Arnaudville - Private Family Service will be held for Ronald Gene Carriere, 76, who passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.
A native of Arnaudville who spent his youth in Baton Rouge and returned to Arnaudville for most of his adulthood, Ronald Gene Carriere passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the age of 76. Gene was survived by his beloved wife and friend of 34 years, Cellestine Tina Elanda Hallmark Carriere; one daughter, Michelle Aline Carriere and husband Patrick Toney of Baton Rouge; 3 step-children, Stephen Faul of Sorrento, Stuart Faul and wife Bernadette of Hemet, Calif., and Tawny DeVillier and husband Artie of Cankton; seven grandchildren, Casey Faul, Paige Faul, Skyla Faul, Joshua Faul, Holden Faul, Ryder DeVillier, and Alexis Toney; and brother, Willie Billy James Carriere of Baton Rouge. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Aline Carriere, formerly of Baton Rouge, and stepson, Sterling Faul, formerly of Lafayette.
Gene was a doting grandfather and a quick wit who made friends wherever he went. He considered his stepchildren and step-grandchildren his own and was devoted to his family throughout his life.
He spent four years in the U.S. Army serving his country in Korea after the Conflict. He was an electrician by trade, an occupation which led him to meet his wife Tina on an electrical job at what is now Opelousas General South Campus (where they later married). He was also a talented woodworker and horseman who owned and cared for many horses over the years and encouraged the hobby in his daughter Michelle. Gene was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, as well as a proud member of the local VFW, the Whiskey Bay Hunting Club, and the NRA.
Genes life will be remembered and celebrated in a private gathering of family. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to St. Judes Childrens Hospital or the charity of your choice.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
