New Iberia - A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Ronald "Mousey" Moise DeRouen, 77, who passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Mario Romero will be the Celebrant.
A gathering will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 9:15 AM.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. DeRouen was born on August 8, 1939 to the late Moise and Martha Romero DeRouen. He was the owner of Ronald M. DeRouen Electrical Service, and was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church and the New Iberia Bass Masters. An avid outdoorsman, "Mousey" enjoyed bass fishing, hunting, and coaching baseball and football. He also enjoyed making birdhouses, wind chimes, and fishing lures.
Survivors include his children, Andree DeRouen Chataignier and husband Neil of New Iberia, Ronnie G. DeRouen and wife Stephanie of New Iberia, Stephen DeRouen and wife Tammy of New Iberia, Jon DeRouen of Abbeville, and Matt DeRouen and wife Cristi of Broussard; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 56 years, Marie "Eileen" Defelice DeRouen; a daughter, Christine Anne DeRouen; and a sister, Joann D. Ellender.
