New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2007, at Holy Family Chapel in New Iberia for Ronald Gene Gallineau, 69, who died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at his residence in Broussard. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. Born February 25, 1938, in Canton, Ohio, Ronald joined the military in 1955. Serving in the U.S. Navy, as a Master Chief, his family was stationed in areas such as Iceland, Puerto Rico, Italy and areas such as Beeville, Texas; Melton, Tennessee, and Jacksonville, Florida. Included in his military services were two tours in Vietnam. After 30 years of service and several years as a civilian worker, Ron and Sara retired to Broussard. Mr. Gallineau was an avid fisherman and golfer. His love was being able to play golf with family and friends. Ron was a member of Squirrel Run Golf Course in New Iberia. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sara DeRouen Gallineau, of New Iberia; two sons, Kemp Gallineau and his family, Dawn and Sarah, of Orlando, Florida; Dwayne Gallineau and his family, Dawn, David and Danielle, of Broussard, Louisiana; one daughter, Tammy Theologus and her family, Stratos, Basil and Christina, of Waycross, Georgia; two stepsons, Gil Richard and his family, Casey, Wesley, Justin, Desiree, Andrea, and B.J., of New Iberia; and Charles Richard and his family, Barbara and Adriann, of New Iberia; his mother, Helen Gallineau, of Williamsburg, Virginia; one sister, Betti Jane Walters and husband, Dan, of Williamsburg, Virginia; and one brother, Tim Gallineau and his wife, Barbara, of Hamburg, New York. Ron also has three great grandchildren, Brayton Picard, Alexia Richard, and Ayden Hebert. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Elon Gallineau; and his brother, John Gallineau. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2007, and continue until time of service on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. Pallbearers will be his sons, Kemp Gallineau, Gilbert Richard, and Charles Richard, his son-in-law, Strat Theologus, his brother-in-law, Kenwood Walker, and Glenn Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne and David Gallineau and Wesley and Justin Richard. Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
