Breaux Bridge - Ronnie Ann Melancon Hebert Garritt entered heaven on May 14, 2020. A lifetime Breaux Bridge resident, Ronnie was born to Whitney “Pim” Melancon and Thelma Marie Chauffe on November 23,1942 and graduated from Breaux Bridge High School.
Ronnie is survived by her husband, Patrick “Rickie” Garritt, her children: Ron C. Hebert and spouse Tina, Richey M. Hebert and spouse Ann, Edith R. Eldridge and spouse Troy, Reed M. Hebert and spouse Holly, Renee Debetaz and spouse Jeff, Ryan A Hebert, Rachael A. Garritt and spouse Ronald Bijeaux, and Rickie P. Garritt and spouse Kayla; as well as twenty-two grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
Ronnie was preceded in death by her parents: Whitney “Pim” Melancon and Thelma Chauffe Melancon, her stepmother Enola Champagne Melancon, her husband Rufus Carrol Hebert, her brother Malcolm A. Melancon, and her granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Hebert.
After the untimely death of her husband, Rufus Carroll Hebert, Ronnie was blessed to share life with her beloved husband of 48 years, Rickie Garritt. She worked side by side with Rickie and shared many years of success in their company Garritt Hamilton Oil Properties. Ronnie also loved working around her home and gardening, but there is no question that her favorite roles by far were those of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Birthdays, graduations, holidays, and even impromptu family gatherings usually found Ronnie at the center of the fun, dancing, and laughter, and she was always ready for a card game, a fishing trip to Lake Claiborne, or a casino trip. “Gran” was adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and though there were 32 in all, each and every one held a special place in her heart. The kids could always count on Gran to be present and celebrating each of their milestones. Ronnie Ann Garritt embodied a true “joie de vivre” spirit, and that spirit and the lessons she shared by living each day to the fullest, will live on in all who were fortunate enough to have known her and to have been touched by her life. Her light shined so brightly; there is simply no way to measure how much she will be missed.
