Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Roosevelt Trahan, 91, who passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 8:00 am until 12:45 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Readers will be Karen T. Guidry and Jake Robin. Gift bearers will be Ali Robin Guidry and Blaise Ann Guidry. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Cecilia. Roosevelt was born in Cecilia to the late Dewey and Blanche Huval Trahan. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Roosevelt worked as a Lineman for Slemco for 33 years. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as an usher for over 50 years. Roosevelt was a member of American Legion #294 and Pelbay Hunting Club. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was assigned to the USS Nashville CL43. Roosevelt enjoyed farming, raising cattle, hunting, gardening, and traveling to reunions with family and friends. He is survived by his loving spouse of 72 years, Elaine Guidry Trahan; his son, Dale Trahan and wife Margaret; his daughter, Peggy Trahan Robin and husband Lionel; his grandchildren, Mark Robin, Karen T. Guidry, and Kelly Trahan; his great-grandchildren, Ali Robin Guidry, Jake Robin, Blaise Ann Guidry, and Remy Paul Guidry; his brother in law, Don Guidry; and his sisters in law, Doris Latiolais and Margie Guidry. He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Trahan; his mother, Blanche Trahan; his sister, Florence Angelle; and his nephew, Rusty Angelle. Pallbearers will be Dale Trahan, Mark Robin, Lionel Robin, Kelly Trahan, Remy Paul Guidry, and Don Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be Sydney Trahan, Jr., Terry and Ken Latiolais, Tex and Perry Angelle, and all the members of the American Legion and Pelbay Hunting Club.
