August 13, 1940 — August 24, 2008

VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, August 29, 2008, at St. Martin de Tours Roman Catholic Church in St. Martinville, LA, for Rose Mae Latiolais Guidry, 68, who passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, in Pontiac, Michigan. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2, in Breaux Bridge, LA. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the funeral Mass and conduct the service. Rose was born and raised in St. Martinville, Louisiana and attended St. Martinville High School. She and her husband, "Jo Jo," were residents of Denton, Texas for many years. She took great joy in raising her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren; those times were very precious to her. One of the most important things in her life was to watch them grow into proud young men and women. When there was a family member who had a new baby, they could expect to get a handmade baby blanket from her. Rose was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Rylan "Jo Jo" Guidry, of Clarkston, MI; one son, Jerry Guidry and his wife, Adriene, of Clarkston, MI; two daughters, Tina A. Guidry, of Vinton, LA, and Cynthia G. Schattle and her husband, Jeff, of Richardson, TX; one sister, Inez Barras, of Lafayette, LA; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel Latiolais, Sr. and Josephine Boudreaux Latiolais; four brothers, Murphy, Louis, John and Gabriel Latiolais, Jr.; and two sisters, Agatha L. Frederick and Lou Anna L. Potier. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Black, Richard Black, Joey Schattle, Martin Potier, Don Guidry, and Matthew Robicheaux. Pellerin Funeral Home, 112 New Market Street, St. Martinville, LA (337.394.9121), is in charge of arrangements.
