New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Monday, May 27, 2024, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church, for Rose Mary Peltier Brasseaux, 89, who passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Lafayette.

 

Entombment will follow at the Holy Family Cemetery.

 

Rev. David Furka will be the Celebrant.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home and will continue Monday, from 8:00 am until 10:15 am.

 

A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm, on Sunday, at Pellerin Funeral Home.

 

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Brasseaux was born on February 17, 1935, to the late Clarville and Rosalie Bodin Peltier, and was a graduate of Mount Carmel. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked in Labor and Delivery at Iberia Medical Center for over 30 years. She also ran the Skating Rink in City Park for several years. Mrs. Brasseaux was a devout Catholic, who had a deep love for her faith. She was an active parishioner at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. Rose Mary enjoyed flower gardening, caring for everyone, and most of all spending time with her family.

 

Survivors include her children, Loren Pourciau, Jr. (Desiree), Greg Pourciau, Patrick Pourciau (Courtney), and Julie Pourciau Delcambre; step children, Chris Brasseaux Guidry (Carroll), Patrick Brasseaux, Debra Brasseaux Sams (Eric), and Karen Brasseaux Schultz (Randall); grandchildren, Joshua Sampia, Shana Sampia, Adrian Walker, Matthew Walker, Lance Brasseaux, Peyton Pourciau, Tori Louviere, Grant Pourciau, Kelsey Pourciau, Scott Delcambre, Amber Delcambre Migues, Emma Pourciau, Lilli Pourciau, Ali Klentzman, Grant Klentzman, and Brynn White; and 19 great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kernand “KJ” Brasseaux; granddaughters, Brandie Delcambre and Gracie Michelle Brasseaux; daughter-in-law, Lori Brasseaux; and siblings, Walter Peltier, Allen Peltier, Louis Peltier, Florence “Tuttie” Migues, and Dorothy “Dot” Theall.

 

Pallbearers include Peyton Pourciau, Grant Pourciau, Scott Delcambre Belaire, Noah Delcambre, Lance Brasseaux, and Liam Viator.

 

Honorary pallbearers include Joshua Sampia, Adrian Walker, Matthew Walker, and Noah Greene.


The family would like to give special thanks to Jane Kibodeaux, Dana Comeaux, Pam Landry, Dr. Ronald Tyler Hebert, and Dr. Sun Nguyen; and to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana for extraordinary care.
