St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Rose Marie Narcisse , 84, who passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until time of service on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Cyriaque Sounou, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Rose was a parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church and a member of The Drexel Society. She worked at Lafayette General Medical Center for many years in the dietary department and at the city park. She loved listening to music, especially her favorite, Marvin Gaye, "Got To Give It Up." Rose enjoyed socializing with family and relatives, whether it was on the phone or in person. She truly loved being around the ones she loved. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Leonard "Kirk" Narcisse; two daughters, Glenda Narcisse George and Tamalichia Sharay Narcisse; three sisters, Eula Mae (Wourance) Jones, Ann Eva Celestine and Lucinda Hurd; two brothers, Weldon (Georgia) Narcisse, Sr. and Delton Narcisse; eight grandchildren, Delacie (Eugene) Henderson, Alonzo Narcisse, Ian Leonard Lee, Aliyah Narcisse, Lazarus L. George, Draylon Narcisse, Christopher Narcisse and Dominick Narcisse; and three great grandchildren, Aiden Narcisse, Ashton Henderson and Austyn Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elva Hypolite Narcisse; son, Coby Narcisse; brothers, Avery Narcisse and Dennis Narcisse; sister, Anna Mae Gedward.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her nurses, Lisa Gardner and Wable Daigle, for the wonderful care given to Rose during her time of need.
Pallbearers will be Alonzo Narcisse, Ian Leonard Lee, Lazarus L. George, Christopher Narcisse, Roderick Narcisse, Martez Doucet, Jordan Jones, and Terry Martin Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Weldon Narcisse, Delton Narcisse, Avery Gedward, William Landry, Warren Jones Jr., and Steve Jones.
