Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Roy Benoit Cormier, 89, who passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at his residence in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Allen Breaux, associate pastor of St. Bernard Church, will conduct the services. Readers will be Kourtni Robert and Ricky Fruge.
Mr. Cormier was a member of American Legion Post 133. He loved fishing, dancing, picking pecans and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Agles C. Cormier of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Linda Fruge and her husband, Richard, Sr. of Breaux Bridge; his brother, Lennis Cormier and his wife, Mary of New Orleans; his sisters, Athelie Boutin, Anna Mae Cormier, and Beulah Blanchard all of Breaux Bridge; his grandchildren, Leslie Robert and her husband, Shane of Breaux Bridge and Richard "Ricky" Fruge, Jr. and his friend Kristine of Lafayette; and his 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Theresa Trosclair Cormier; and his brother, Francis Cormier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Richard Fruge, Sr., Ricky Fruge, Shane Robert, Wayne Stoute, Ronnie Thibodeaux, and Donald Peltier.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Trey, Shane, Paul and Kourtni Robert, Tyler Fruge, Evan Broughton and Lennis Cormier.
Special thanks to St. Theresa's Hospice, his nurse Madge, his caregiver Rosie, Dr. Deidre Stelly and Staff, St. Martin Hospital Nursing Unit, Dr. Norton, Roxanne, Ronnie, and Betty for the wonderful care that was given to Roy during his illness.
