Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM , Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Roy Bernard Crews, Jr., 92, who died on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in Breaux Bridge. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery with Military Honors by the New Iberia VFW Post 1982. Deacon Theo Landry will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A longtime area resident, Mr. Crews served our country in the U.S. Marines during World War II and was a graduate of Tulane University. He retired as an engineer from Texaco with 30 years of service and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Survivors include his children, Jane Bell Crews and husband Hartley Ray, Jr. of Lafayette, Carolyn Ann Crews Ballard of Lake Charles, and Roy Crews III of Hammond; grandson, David Ballard and wife Heather Hoffpauir Ballard of Shreveport; great grandson, Brock Ballard; a dear friend, Verna Patout of New Iberia; and a great grandson due to arrive in September. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Zoe Marie Laurent Crews; his parents, Roy Bernard Crews, Sr., and Jane Bell Ernst Crews; and brothers, Lyle Crews, Stanley Crews, and Sherwood Crews; son-in-law, Dewey Ballard; and daughter-in-law, Theresa Schmidt Crews.
