Roy P. Etienne

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Roy Paul Etienne, 86, who passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Camelot of Broussard.

 

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm on Saturday.

 

Rev. Abelardo Gabriel SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

 

Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.

 

Roy was retired from Cargill Salt Mine and was a member of the International Chemical Workers Union.  He was lifelong parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville and was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver.

 

As a pastime, Roy loved cooking, baking, planting flowers in his yard, watching old western movies, and drinking his morning and afternoon coffee with family and friends.

 

He is survived by his wife, Marie Etienne; daughters, Kelly Lee (Durwin ), JoAnn Etienne, Stephanie Coleman (Marshall) and Earline E. Batiste (Terry); sons, Jules Etienne (Carolyn), Earl Dwayne Etienne, Roy Etienne Jr. (Lorena) and Gerald  Etienne; sisters, Lucy Savoy; and two sisters-in-law, Theresa Derousselle (Joseph) and Mary Joseph (Ronald).

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules Etienne, Sr. and Amelia Breaux Etienne; son, Lee  Etienne; daughters, Vivian Lee and Marie Batiste; brothers, Jules Etienne, Jr., Rev. Clifton Etienne, Junius Etienne, Norris Etienne, Milton Etienne, Francis Etienne, Dalton Etienne, Walton Etienne, George Etienne, and Horace Etienne; and his sisters, Louise Washington, Amelia Lee, and Rita Mallery.

 

Pallbearers will be Roy Etienne, Jr., David "Yogi" Savoy, Earl Dwayne Etienne, Kullen Williams, Durwin Doomes and Elgustus Polite.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Joseph, Sr., Joseph Michael DeRouselle, Francis Etienne, Jr., Terry Batiste, Sr., Warren Etienne, Michael Mercier, Ronald Joseph, Jr., Lucius Warner, and Joe Chavis.
