Roy J. Fremin, Sr.

Coteau - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Roy J. Fremin Sr., 96, who passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday. Rev. Keith Landry will be the Officiant. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia. A lifelong area resident, Roy J. Fremin, Sr. was born on April 21, 1921 to the late Roosevelt and Flavie Comeaux Fremin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a former member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau, where he served as an altar boy. He worked in the oilfield for Texaco for many years, and later owned F&R Oilfield Contractors. In his spare time, he enjoyed racehorses, gardening, and spending time with his family. He also had a passion for music, having studied it in the Navy. He played the guitar in many popular bands in his younger years. He will be deeply missed. Roy is survived by daughters, Mary Morein of Lafayette and Bonnie Fremin of Coteau; son, Donald Fremin of St. Martinville; brother, Olan Fremin and wife Earline of New Iberia; sister, Delores Bienvenue of New Iberia; son-in-law, James Pisani of New Iberia; grandchildren, Marty Pisani, Roger Pisani, Tony Pisani, Kent Pisani, Richelle Long; and Sunny Desormeaux; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Martin Fremin; son, Roy "Boze" Fremin, Jr., daughter, Jacqueline Pisani; sisters, Beverly Derouen and Louella Judice; and brothers, Dalton Fremin and Merlin Fremin. Pallbearers will be Marty Pisani, Roger Pisani, Tony Pisani, Nicholas Flook, Khalil Afaneh, Gabrielle Flook, Brennen Flook, Matthew Pisani and Garrett Pisani.
