Roy Guidry

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Roy Joseph Guidry, 69, who passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Fr. Floyd Calais and Fr. Michael Delcambre, will conduct the services. Altar Server wil be Trevor Blanchard. Reading the scriptures for the service will be Kelly Guidry and Nancy Guidry. Gift bearers will be Annette G. Babineaux and Lydia Guidry. Mr. Guidry was an insurance agent for 40 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post 278, National Guard and the Louisiana Insurance Commission. He enjoyed gardening at his farm which played a very important outlet to his life. He also passed his free time playing cards and watching the History Channel. He looked forward to visiting with his friends every afternoon. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and sister very much. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Peggy LeBlanc Guidry of Cecilia; his son, Clint Guidry and his wife, Nancy of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Tina Guidry Blanchard and her husband, Keith of Cecilia; his sister, Annette Guidry Babineaux of Nina; his grandchildren, Trey and Trevor Blanchard and Lydia Guidry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lannie (Joe) and Mozella Melancon Guidry and a sister, Genevieve Belaire. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday and continue at 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Clint Guidry, Trey Blanchard, Keith Blanchard, Perry Belaire, Gus Guidry and Chad Calais. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Guidry, Preston Taylor, Batmost Lormand, Walter Guidry, Charles Taylor, Ronnie LeBlanc, Daryl Hardy, Ronnie Roberts and Lloyd Melancon. The family would like to extend special thanks to St. Martin Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and their and Staffs, and Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans - Transplant Unit, for their utmost kind and compassionate care of Roy during his illness - you will forever remain in our thoughts and prayers.
