New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, January 30, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Roy A. Labit, 62, who died Friday, January 27, 2012 in New Iberia .
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery , with Military Honors conducted by the New Iberia VFW Post 1982.
Rev. Jude Thierry will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 10:30 AM until 9:30 AM Monday atPellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday.
A native and resident of New Iberia , Mr. Labit was the son of Percy Paul and Eula Duplantis Labit. He worked as an electrician, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his son, James Labit of Lafayette; brother, Gerald Labbie of New Orleans, Cleveland Labit and wife Alice of New Iberia, Michael Labit and wife Renee of New Iberia, Jeffery Labbe of New Iberia; sisters, Leona Rachel and husband Paul of New Iberia, Genevie Pierce and husband John of Alabama, Juanita Tyler of New Iberia; two grandchildren, Jessie James Labit and Jake Brian Labit.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Labit was preceded in death by brothers, Edward Labit, Wilton Labit, and Samuel Labit.
Pallbearers will be James Labit, Cleveland Labit, Michael Labit, Jeffery Labbe, Trent Menard, and Lance LeBlanc.
