St. Martinville- A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Duchamp Opera House in St. Martinville for Roy Joseph Patout, Jr., who passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023, at his residence.

A visitation will be held at Duchamp Opera House (200 S. Main Street, St. Martinville, La 70582) on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Mike Fuselier will be the celebrant at the memorial service.

He was born on March 22, 1960, in St. Martinville. Throughout his life, Roy dedicated himself to a career in construction. He took pride in his craft and his hard work and passion in this field were evident to everyone around him. Beyond his professional life, Roy had a vibrant personality that touched the lives of those around him. His great sense of humor brightened the lives of his family and friends. Roy's warm smile would light up a room and make anyone feel welcome in his presence.

Roy had an array of hobbies that brought him great happiness throughout his lifetime. He was strong in his faith and enjoyed going to Bible study.  Roy enjoyed being outdoors; you could find him out on the water fishing, being on the golf course, at the bowling alley or nurturing his plants in the garden. He also found artistic expression through painting.

One of Roy's greatest joys in life was spending time with his beloved family. He cherished every moment spent with his wife over their remarkable 38-year marriage. Their relationship was built on love, trust, and unwavering support for one another. Roy was a devoted father who adored his children and grandchildren. He made it a priority to be actively involved in their lives every step of the way.

The greatest thing about him was that he trusted in God, and believed that Jesus died on the cross for our sins-- That his hope was to see Jesus face to face. To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Walker Patout; children, Angie Cunningham, Lauren Cunningham, Mark Cunningham, Jr. (Junalyne) and Genevieve Patout Thevenet (Adam); grandchildren, Walker Fladt, Avery O'Dell Hidalgo (Alan), Hunter O'Dell, Zachary Price, Ryan Ransonet, Christian Thevenet, Joseph Thevenet, Wesley Thevenet, Asher Thevenet, and Hope Cunningham; and his siblings, Simone Palmer (Terry), Nicolle Patout (Jeanie), Lisa Morris (Lee), Bernard Patout (Karen) and Paul Patout (Mia).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Patout, Sr. and Louise Gouaux Patout; and sister, Ursula Patout.

Roy's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He left behind a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, love, and cherished moments. He will be remembered as a man who deeply valued his family and friends.
