Russel Joseph Champagne

Breaux Bridge- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, June 2, 2023 at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Russel Joseph Champagne, 70, who passed away on May 21, 2023 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. 

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Thursday. 

Rev. Greg Cormier will officiate at the funeral mass. 

Russel never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone but never looking for anything in return.  He was a true cowboy at heart and always wore his signature cowboy hat. He found joy in riding horses and sharing stories from his escapades with friends and family. 

He is survived by his companinon, Tammy McCarty; daughter, Heidi (Noogie) Comeaux; son, Jeremy Champagne; brother, Dennis (Angela) Champagne; sister, Laura (Buddy) Mills; grandchild, Kain Comeaux; and his dog Fluffy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; James Champagne, Sr. and Yolande Champagne; sister, Mary Ann LeBlanc; brother, James Jeffery Champagne, Jr.; sister, Linda Marie Aquinaldo.

Pallbearers will be Noogie Comeaux, Kain Comeaux, Dennis Champagne, Buddy Mills and Kade Champagne.
