Chap learned the family business of sugar cane farming at an early age. By age 7, he was already able to complete mechanical work on tractors and trucks which he grew to love. He was a diesel mechanic for over 40 years and could fix anything mechanical. He started his own business, "Mechanic On Wheels", in 2010, which became a household name for many farming and oilfield companies. He considered himself the mechanic always on call.
Growing up, he developed a passion for the fast life of motorcycles and drag racing. In his early 20s, he was an award-winning motorcyclist. It was said, "If you knew him back in the day, he could truly ride a motorcycle." After a motorcycle accident in 1987, he pursued drag racing. He loved the track and the blazé. He was always ready and down to race. In 2015, he took up riding again. He loved riding his bike and listening to old groove tunes.
Chap loved family and was the life of every party. You could always find him dancing with his cowboy boots and hats on. He loved swinging out and Zydecoing. He was always ready to get on the dance floor
