Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Russell “PaPa Russ” John LeGrand, 70, who passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday and continue on Tuesday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Monday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Trudy Guidry, Tasha Theriot Sonnier and Ashley Theriot. Gift bearers will be Jana Boudreaux, Jonathan Boudreaux, and Lane LeGrand.
Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.
Russell loved being outdoors; either he was gardening, cutting grass, or fishing. He loved to entertain people by cooking and feeding them. Russell always enjoyed vacationing with his family at the beach and riding around with his K-9 companion, Jed. If you asked him where he worked, he would say he was self-employed at "Ask Di Industries." Close family and friends knew what he was talking about and Russell would get a good laugh out of them. His loving and caring heart will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dianne Theriot LeGrand; daughter, Jolene Boudreaux (Robert); daughter-in-law, Birdie LeGrand; grandchildren, Jana Boudreaux, Jonathan Boudreaux, and Lane LeGrand; brother, Steven LeGrand (Mary Ann); godchildren, Michele Champagne Hebert, Craig Champagne, and Leslie Chandler; and all of his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Joseph and Enola Amy LeGrand; sons, Joey and Jonas LeGrand; brothers, Joseph LeGrand, Roland LeGrand, Gursey LeGrand, and Randy LeGrand; and in-laws, Euclide and Yula Mae Theriot.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Boudreaux, Craig Champagne, Robert Boudreaux, Keith Theriot, Todd Theriot, and Michael Theriot.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jana Boudreaux, Lane LeGrand, Steven LeGrand, Michele Champagne Hebert, Kirk Sonnier, Tasha Sonnier, Kelly Theriot, Logan Hebert, and Justin Morris.
