Ruth Ann Byers New Iberia - A private Memorial Service will be held for Ruth Ann Byers, 87, who passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in Lafayette. Ruth was a native of Magnolia, Arkansas, a graduate of Bossier High School, and a resident of New Iberia since 1968. She was mostly a homemaker, but took a break when she worked at Vermilionville from 1991-1996. According to her children and grandchildren, Ruth was the best mom and Maw-Maw ever. She will be deeply missed. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Joni Byers and fianc Mark Bayard of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Nathan Byers, Jr. and wife Denise of Lafayette, Ted Byers of Lafayette, and Tim Byers of New Iberia; and three grandchildren, Kathy Scarborough and husband Randall of Carencro, Corey Hebert of New Iberia, and Jadin Bayard of Breaux Bridge. She was preceded in death by her father, Ollie S. Thomas, Sr.; mother, Minnie Pearl Baucum Thomas; and several siblings. Special thanks to Heart of Hospice for taking such good care of our mother.
