New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Ruth Ann Landry, 55, who died Friday, March 1, 2013, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. The readings will be proclaimed by Susan Robinson and Steve Landry. Gift Bearers include Hunter Landry and Ava Landry.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
Ruth Ann Morigi was born in Gary, IN on January 23rd, 1958. At the age of 12 her family moved to Merrillville, IN. Ruth was the eldest of five children followed by Michelle, Dorothy, Daniel, and Mary. She graduated from Merrillville High School in 1976. In 1980 she married Mark Landry to whom she shared nearly 33 years. Ruth served as the director of religious education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she had a passion for serving God and educating the many young minds that came through there over the course of her 13 year tenure. Yet the most joyous moments of Ruths life were those spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. The courage that Ruth exemplified in her battle with cancer reminds everyone of the amazing and courageous woman that she was and will always be.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mark Landry of New Iberia; children, Tiffani Landry and companion Brian Slenker of Bronx, New York, Sarah L. Powers and husband Brian of New Iberia, Casey Landry and wife Brittany of New Iberia, Andrew Landry of New Iberia; brother, Danny Morigi and wife Melissa of Indiana; sisters, Michelle Morigi-Caberra of Indiana, Dorothy M. Thorpe of Tennessee, Mary M. Knopf of Indiana; three grandchildren, Hunter Landry, Ava Landry, and Theodore Landry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dante Morigi and Mary Ragon; grandparents; father-in-law, ONeil Landry; mother-in-law, June Landry.
Pallbearers will be Casey Landry, Andrew Landry, Brian Powers, Brian Slenker, Glen Belaire, and Billy Grissom.
