Ruth Lohr Viator

New Iberia - On Friday, November 19th 2021, Ruth Lohr Viator, passed away at her home in New Iberia surrounded by her five children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was 81 years old.

A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rev. Stephanie Leleux will officiate.

A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home.

Ruth was born on December 4, 1939 to her parents Andrew (Buster) and Myrtle (Kelley) Lohr, in New Iberia, and was a graduate of Mt. Carmel. On August 20, 1961 Ruth married the love of her life, Jeffery J. Viator, and together they raised five children. One son, Jeffery and four daughters, Susan, Robin, Jessica and Amy. Ruth was a loving and caring mother to her children and granny to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She dedicated her entire life to her family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jeffery J. Viator, her great granddaughter Aleyah Rayne Park, her parents Andrew (Buster) and Myrtle (Kelley) Lohr, her brothers, Billy, Bobby, Guy, Lloyd and David Lohr, her sister Ester (Sissy) Hart, and her in-laws Paul, and Norma Viator.

Ruth is survived by her son, Jeffery P. Viator (Denise), daughters; Susan V. LeBlanc (Roger), Robin V. Martinez (Dewayne), Jessica Viator (Marlin Hebert), Amy V. Hebert (Troy). She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Lacie V. Robinson, Kelley L. Moore, Andrew Viator, Joshua Girouard, Anthony Poirier, Hunter Viator, Taylor Blaze, Allie P. Park, Hayley Viator, Blake Hebert, Torrey Blaze, Braylen Hebert, Anna M. Shackelford, 28 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Ruth is also survived by three special close family friends including a “bonus” daughter Candy Armstrong and two “bonus” grandchildren Melissa Whipp and JeanPaul Morceaux.

The family of Ruth would like to express their gratitude to Traditions Hospice for their wonderful and loving care. Special thanks to Kristen, Darian, Melissa, Rochelle, Latisha, Ashley and Ms. Stephanie, who eased her transition.

Pallbearers are her grandsons; Andrew (Drew), Anthony (Tony), Hunter, Taylor, Blake and Torrey.

Honorary Pallbearers include her granddaughters; Lacie, Kelley, Allie, Hayley, Braylen and Anna.
