Samuel (Uncle) Charles

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Lafayette, for Samuel Charles, 86, who passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Maison de Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday. Reverend John Bedingfield will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Uncle was always happy and never met a stranger. He enjoyed fixing bikes and lawn mowers, and listening to zydeco. He would re-paint his bike a different color every week. Sam worked at Robert's Lounge in St. Martinville as a custodian for over 50 years. He is survived by his brother, Joseph Charles and wife Mary Ann of Houston, TX; and his sister, Nora Babin of Lafayette, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett Charles and Mary Moore Babin; step father, Sidney Babin, Sr; sisters, Earline C. Celestine, Yvonne B. John; brothers, John Charles, Ben Charles, Sydney Charles, Sidney Babin, Jr., Herman Babin, T-Jean Narcisse, and Lawrence Narcisse; nephews, Donald Babin, and Leonard Babin. Pallbearers will be Kavin Lindon, Jamar Batiste, Theron Mitchell, Ronald Babin, Jr., Clyde Gedward, Jr., and Travis Babin, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph, Wallace, Stanford Charles, Herbert "Buddy" Shifflett, Lester Mitchell, Eric Batiste, Sherman and Ronald Babin, Sr. Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
